Women's Basketball Team Opens With 67-50 Win Over Mount St. Vincent

Molly Friel posted career-highs in rebounds, assists and steals
Saratoga Springs, N.Y. -- The women’s basketball team opened its season with a 67-50 win over Mount St. Vincent in the first round of the Skidmore Invitational. Ithaca will face the host Thoroughbreds (an 84-38 winner over York [N.Y.]) in Sunday’s championship game.
 
Senior guard Sue Kelly (Bethlehem Central/Delmar) scored a game-high 19 points, including 14 in the second half as the Bombers outscored Mount St. Vincent 38-22 to pull away from a one-point halftime lead. Junior center Erika Steele (Hopkinton/Hopkinton, Mass.) added nine points and a career-best 10 rebounds.

Junior forward Molly Friel (North Allegheny/Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished with career-best totals of six rebounds, five assists and five steals. Senior guard Erin Sanvidge (Seton Catholic Central/Plattsburgh) scored eight points and sophomore forward #Tracy Bradley$ (Lewiston/Brunswick, Maine) added a career-high eight points off the bench.
